I was not aware of how bad the situation was on the site - I just wrote up a long message on the "contact" page so as to reach some kind of admin, only to receive no confirmation that the message even left the box. No "thank you for you message" pop-up or anything! Feelin super frustrated. 

I know - others have tried the contact page as well, and none of them got any response or saw any sign that the message was even read/acted on.

It's really sad, because from what I've heard and seen this place USED to be a truly great site for fans of Asian music. Unfortunately it's now become nothing more than a source for ad revenue with no real benefit for the fans. And because the owner chose to hide behind an anonymous registration and "use" someone else's internet bandwidth, there's not even a way to find out whether they're even still alive.

IF I can gather together enough 'real' fans (as opposed to all the bots signing up lately), I'm considering an attempt to take over so WE (all of us) can at least try to restore the site to it's former glory. A lot of true fans have put a great deal of effort into this place - adding videos, lyrics, news, etc - and it would be a shame if all their work were lost. :(

Actually, I Only signed up here after getting a number of complaints of fraud. My Information is based on research (checking the forum, comparing posts with users and when they've last logged in, and so forth). I still don't know whether the owner just walked away or if he/she died or what. I DID run some IP#s to try and locate them, and was somewhat surprised to find they all traced back to Smithville elementary school near Atlantic City, NJ.

It's a shame that this site has gone down so badly - from what I've seen it USED to be a great place.

Unfortunately, yes. 

Many of the features no longer work, and there is nobody left with the ability to do even simple things like suspending the large numbers of spambots being signed up to the site. 

I've been trying to find people in the relevant countries who could provide the weekly chart rankings so that I could provide them for the fans, but so far have had no luck.

That's pretty sad, considering this is the largest website for fans of JPOP and JROCK. Other websites are all focused on western music or Korean music (sometimes Chinese music). Japanese music gets often forgotten and ignored.
The work the community has put on this website over the years shouldn't be throwed in the dump.

I'm still trying to find out whether the owner ran this on his own server, or if they rented server space from some company.

If it's on a rented server, it MIGHT just be possible to buy the registration when it expires and try rebuilding the site to it's former glory. 

I know basic programming, I'd be willing to help on that. However Idk much about mysql.
