You cut your hair short like he hated it
You make your train connection a little early and walk down the hall

You can become a woman that won't wait for the sound of the silent bell

In a growing circle of friends where you don't even know their names (1)
You heave a sigh, he buys one ticket

Return to your earnest heart that you don't show to anyone

There are too many worlds where we cannot meet
Open the heavy door by yourself
And search for your own place to sit (2)

Inside of the floating white light inlaid with memories
Strike the body and open your arms
And ask for the fantasy that can never be seized (3)

You passed the shameful night without sleeping
You only hold the song of an unreaching voice in your heart

Even if you're crying about something, don't worry about it and risk it on tomorrow

Distantly, distantly, keep running against the stream
Where do you arrive, invited by the flash of light
Like a constellation, chase your dreams (4)

In the worlds where we cannot meet, we happen across each other
Slowly close the same door (5)
And search for your own place where you can be

I wonder what the floating white light projects
Turn towards someone and open your arms
And ask for the instant that can never be seized (6)

(1) These notes are all about kanji readings, so bear with me. The kanji for honmyou (real name) is written although the sung word is namae (name). This changes the line to imply that the friends that she knows are all false and superficial.

(2) The written word is zaseki (seat) although basho (place) is sung. As the verb in the line is "to sit," this more specific word for the place simply ties the verb in to the phrase.

(3) The kanji says gensou (fantasy) while yume (dream) is sung. This implies that the dream isn't just in the sense of one you have at night, but more along the lines of daydreams or things you wish for.

(4) The written word is senkou (a flash) while the sung word is hikari (light). A flash is just a short period of light, of course, so the meaning of the lines doesn't change very much.

(5) The kanji says tobari (curtain) but the sung word is tobira (door). It's basically the same, although the word tobari carries the connotation of the curtain being closed or an act coming to the end.

(6) Where the kanji is read isshun (an instant), the sung word is yume (dream). From merely trying to seize a dream, but to seizing one that is entirely fleeting.
