Aoi Shouta (formerly known as SHOWTA. and Noboru Ryugaki) is a voice actor and singer from Fukuiken, Japan who is known for his high-toned, feminine voice that has been described as "angelic". When he was at school he hated his voice but was able to learn to love it after he entered a karaoke competition in his hometown when he was 16 and gained a positive response. The first time he appeared publicly was under the name "Yanagawa Noboru" in Yamaha's Teens Music Festival. He is good friends with transsexual singer and fellow Yamaha Music Quest graduate, Nakamura Ataru. He is currently represented by King Records for singing and S inc. for voice acting.
He debuted as SHOWTA. under King Records with the single "Negaiboshi" in 2006. He then went on to release six other singles and one album under this name until he departed from King Records in 2010 to pursue a career as a voice actor. In 2013, he re-debuted as a singer under the same name he uses for voice acting, Aoi Shouta with the mini album, "Blue Bird" represented by the label, B-Green.
In 2016, he left B-Green and returned to King Records. His final release under B-Green was the best album, "S" which contained all of the main songs from his previously-released singles and albums under the label. The "S" stands for his name and "start", symbolizing that fact that his return to King Records is a new start for him once again. His first release after his return to King Records was "SHOWTA. Best", a best album that paid homage to the songs he released during the SHOWTA. era.
