Padel, Can I assume you are from Malaysia? I love Nasi Lemak too. Can eat them almost everyday and never get bored of it. Simply love how many variations you can have with nasi lemak with all kinds of meats like chicken, beef, sotong (squid) and veges you.

I think this is mainly the essential element for nasi lemak

Yea, it came from a German immigrant dude (if the wiki is correct) who started selling it in New York. Crazy, no? :smilec:

That Mee Bandung Muar looks tasty too! A bit too reddish maybe? Why is it called Bandung? One of the biggest cities of Indonesia is called Bandung and I have never seen that kind of delicacies before. Where to get them?

I present you Ketoprak
http://budihs.files.wordpress.com/2007/08/ketoprak2.jpg

This might be the closest food to Gado-gado, it also uses a lot of peanut better as the main ingredient. Usually served with lots of kerupuk(Crispy cracker),bee hoon, potato and tofu. I prefer them really hot so I usually ask for more chili padi.

Here is a quick recipe on how to make it

Yeah, sure it is safe.. the natural coloring of the rice come from herbs found locally known as 'bunga telang' (Clitoria in english) Well brace for another one, Nasi Dagang

Pardon my loosely translation.. This is the first time I saw squid cooked as black as this. Can't wait to go back and taste it. permalink Murtabak!!! I am having murtabak fever now!

It's interesting to see how similar some of Malaysian's and Indonesian's food are.

Here some more pictures of Martabak (Yeah, we call it Martabak instead of Murtabak)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a4/Martabak_telor.jpg

A bit different, Martabak is crispier than Malaysia's murtabak. The main thing is still the egg, chicken or meat

http://buku.harian.cantik.info/__oneclick_uploads/2008/02/martabak_telor.JPG
This guy take another level in making it crispy...see how dark the outer skin is
