Summer Sonic 2011: 4th Lineup
Just announced was the fourth line up for Summer Sonic Festival 2011. The rock festival will be held in Osaka and Tokyo on August 13 and 14. The festival offers music from major and indie Japanese and international artists, along with food and attractions.

Very excited about their first show in Japan is American indie band The Morning Benders. The Benders were recently scheduled to play in Tokyo, but had to cancel due to the Tohoku earthquake. Lead singer Chris Chu was born in Japan and lived there for a couple of years. The band put together the EP “Japan Echo” to raise money for disaster victims. Also coming flying in from the States will be rookie band Smith Westerns. This Chicago group plays a wide variety of rock ranging from glam, to garage, to jangle pop.

Also announced this time was Malcom McLaren’s Bow Wow Wow. The English new wave band emerged in 1980 with Annabella Lwin as their lead singer. The quartet is described as incorporating an “African-derived drum sound" into rock rhythms. One Night Only, another English band performing, is said to be the next generation of British arena rock.

Previously confirmed acts include MAXIMUM THE HORMONE, Red Hot Chili Peppers, ONE OK ROCK, and more!
