Kana Nishino has announced that she will be going on indefinite hiatus from the music industry.
The singer made the announcement on January 8 through her official website in a post titled "To Everyone Who Has Cheered Me On".
"Since debuting in 2008, I've met many people and have been surrounded by the music I love...I have my 30s to look forward to soon. I want to travel. There are so many places I want to go and there are many things I want to try," she said.
Her final activity will be her 3 days of concerts at Yokohama Arena from February 1 through February 3.
Nishino stated that she would like to return to the music industry in the future, though she has no idea when that will be.
Kana Nishino is one of the most popular artists of the past decade. Her love songs resonated with Japan's youth, with an appeal similar to Taylor Swift in the US. She has been digitially downloaded over 50 million times.
