Hitomi Yoshizawa has announced that she has decided to retire from the entertainment industry.
On September 26, Yoshizawa was indicted for drunk driving, negligent driving and a hit & run. On September 27, her bail was posted, and she was released from prison.
A sea of lights and cameras greeted the singer as she walked out of prison for the first time since being charged by police. She bowed her head for 7 seconds before softly saying, "I deeply apologize to the victims. I am truly sorry."
After leaving jail, Yoshizawa was transported to the hospital. According to reports, her ability to speak was impaired, and she visited a doctor for consultation.
Following her doctors visit, Yoshizawa is said to have discussed her future with her husband, parents, and officials from her management company. She decided to retire from the entertainment industry, and her contract was cancelled effective immediately.
Yoshizawa will face trail where she is expected to be sentenced to further jail time.
On the morning on September 6, Yoshizawa was driving drunk through the streets of Tokyo. She ran a red light and slammed into a woman on a bicycle who subsequently hit a man next to her. Yoshizawa fled from the scene of the crime, but returned 15 minutes later after reporting it to the police.
