NEWS member Keiichiro Koyama will be resuming his activities effective immediately.
The announcement was made on June 26 through the group's official website. Koyama's activities resume on June 27.
"In addition to serious reflection on his past actions, we have a specific betterment plan in place that has been implemented. Based on this and the discussion of everyone involved, we have decided to resume Koyama's activities on June 27, 2018," the announcement said.
Prior to his brief hiatus, Koyama was a newscaster for the program "news every.". The program will continue to refrain from using him on the program.
On June 7, reports surfaced that Koyama and group mate Shigeaki Kato encouraged two underage women to drink at a party. Koyama suspended his activities as a result of the controversy.
Koyama's resumption of activities coincides with the release of NEWS' new single "BLUE". The single had been scheduled to be released on June 27 prior to the group's recent underage drinking scandals.
