Former SMAP members Goro Inagaki, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi and Shingo Katori have come together to record a new song in support of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
The trio's new song is titled "Ame Agari no Step". The song was written by Warner Music Japan for the trio, with Yoko Kanno serving as composer and Tetsuro Aso as producer.
The goal of the new song is to raise money for the Paralympics. Between March 19 and June 30, all sales of the song through the iTunes store will go towards funding the Paralympics. Regular sales of the song will continue after that point.
On March 4, the trio performed at the Komozawa Olympic Park Athletic Stadium in Tokyo. The surprise appearance marked the first time the three had performed at an outdoor event since leaving SMAP at the end of 2016.
During the event, the trio performed two songs, one of which was their brand new song for the Paralympics. They also performed "72" which is the theme song to special live program "72 Jikan Honnet TV".
When asked about plans about the trio's future activities, the three avoided answering the question directly, instead choosing to further express support for the Paralympics.
