Namie Amuro's "Finally" Surpasses 2 Million In Sales

Namie Amuro's all-time best-of album "Finally" has officially sold over 2 million copies.

Oricon released its sales figures for the first week (1/1 - 1/7) of the 2018. "Finally" sold 69,078 copies during this time, bringing its total sales to 2,002,559 copies.

The last album to sell 2 million copies in Japan was The Beatle's best-of album "1" on August 13, 2012. The album was originally released on November 13, 2000.

The last Japanese soloist to sell more than 2 million copies of an album was Ken Hirai with "Ken Hirai 10th Anniversary Complete Single Collection '95-'05 "Utabaka"" (released November 23, 2005; surpassed 2 million on April 17, 2006), while the last Japanese female soloist was Utada Hikaru with "Utada Hikaru Single Collection Vol. 1" (released March 31, 2004; surpassed 2 million on April 26, 2004).

This is Amuro's 2nd album to sell more than 2 million copies. Her debut album "SWEET 19 BLUES" was released on July 22, 1996 and surpassed 2 million copies sold on August 12, 1996.

Amuro will be retiring from the music industry on September 16, 2018.
