Mai Endo, the former leader of the disbanded idol group Idoling!!!, as announced that she will be retiring from the entertainment industry at the end of the year.
The announcement was made on August 30 through the streaming service FRESH. "I'm about 30 years old now, and I've found something new that I want to do, so that's why I've come to this decision," Endo said.
Before retiring, Endo will be releasing her first and only solo album, currently untitled, sometime this autumn. She will also be holding a farewell live in Tokyo in December.
"For the next 4 months before I retire, I hope to make memories with all my fans and giving back to everyone who has been with me," Endo said.
Mai Endo was scouted to participate in the auditions for Idoling!!! and joined the group in 2006. She became the group's leader in 2009. She graduated from the group on February 14, 2014, to pursue a solo career.
