STU48 has delayed the release its its debut single.
The group's first single had been scheduled to be released on November 1. It has now been postponed until January 31.
In an announcement made on the group's website, officials explained that the group does not have a dedicated theater set up yet.
"Although we have a relationship with a shipbuilding company and have had meetings with them, at this point, we are not at the stage where we can announce the group's onboard theater, so the timing is not right for them to make their major debut," officials said.
The announcement went on to apologize for the delay and creating any inconveniences.
STU48 was formed in March 2017 as the 6th sister group to AKB48. The group sets itself apart by being based on a cruise ship that will sail around the Seto Inland Sea.
