Avex Music Releases Unaffected By Export Ban

Music released by avex group's music label will not be affected by the export ban on products from Avex Pictures.

Earlier today, CDJapan released a statement explaining that it will no longer be allowed to ship products from Avex Pictures effective February 15 at 6pm Japan Time. The sudden restrictions were met with confusion as other online retailers appeared to have stopped distributing good from all avex artists.

JpopAsia has learned that the export ban will only be applying narrowly to animation and image related products from Avex Pictures. No other subsidiaries under the avex group will be experiencing the same restrictions.

Reaction to a possible export ban on products from avex was met with widespread criticism from netizens outside of Japan.

Japan is notorious for restricting its content to only people living within the country. Many videos on YouTube are only available to residents of Japan, and most music is not available for streaming internationally.
