Avex Pictures Bans Export Of Products Outside Of Japan

Products from Avex Pictures will no longer be allowed to exported outside of Japan, a statement from online retailer CDJapan revealed.

The ban on products from the company will begin on February 15 at 6pm Japan Time. The ban will include all CDs, DVDs and Blu rays from Avex Pictures.

CDJapan released a statement explaining the ban to its affected customers early today. The statement has since been added to its website and placed on affected products.

It is currently unclear whether other parts of the avex group, including music labels such as avex trax and rhythm zone, will also begin enforcing an export ban. Netizens have indicated that this may be the case, but JpopAsia is unable to verify these claims at this time.

Online retailers affected by the sudden restrictions will be able to honor any purchases made prior to the start of the export ban, even if the items have not yet been shipped.

JpopAsia has reached out to various entities to clarify the export ban situation and will update you on any new developments.

as if they weren't limiting enough already by putting absurd tarrifs & other fees tacked unto imported versions of their releases in the first place? there's no need to limit expansion, especially when it comes to music & anime. avex is among the largest music/general ent labels in japan, even if this doesn't affect them domestically it will anger international fans, and rightfully so. there's a damn reason so many of us pirate j-music, the lack of accessibility and atrocious price tag, and moreover, just general sleazy management tactics by the companies? it's almost as bad as universal and taylor swift's refusal to publish the bitch's music to any services, it may not put a massive dent in profits no matter how sizable the ego of the ceo, higher ups, artist, or a combination of those/all three, but it's still a slap in the face to fans.
