SMAP's Final Album Sells Over 1 Million Copies

SMAP's final album "SMAP 25 YEARS" has reached the million sales mark during its 3rd week of release.

In the past week, "SMAP 25 YEARS" sold 64,337 copies, bringing its total sales to 1,007,166.

This is the first time an album has sold a million copies within a 3 week period in nearly 3 years. The last album to do so was AKB48's "Tsugi no Ashiato". The album was released on January 22, 2014, and reach a million sales on February 17.

The last male group to achieve similar sales was Arashi. Its album "All the BEST! 1999-2009" broke the million mark during the week of September 14, 2009.

SMAP's only other album to sell more than a million copies was its best-of album "SMAP Vest" which was released on March 23, 2001.
