will not be participating in the group's live events after being diagnosed with Graves' disease.
The idol announced her diagnosis through AKB48's official blog.
"The result of a doctor's examination while visiting the hospital showed that I was in poor physical condition, and I was diagnosed with Graves' disease. For the time being, we've received instruction from my doctor to stop all strenuous physical activity
," Shinozaki said.
Graves' disease is an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid, result in the overproduction of thyroid hormones. Because these hormones affect a wide range of bodily functions, numerous symptoms can occur, including muscle weakness, sleeping problems, bulging eyes, increased heart rate and more.
Shinozaki will still be participating in AKB48's 8th Annual Senbatsu General Election, but will limit her exposure to the public and her performances.
The idol plans on resuming her regular activities after being treated for the disease.
