When "Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F" premieres in Japan on April 18th, jrock fans might hear a familiar song during the movie's battle scenes. It was just recently announced that MAXIMUM THE HORMONE's 2008 single "F" will be the movie's official battle song.
The inclusion of "F" in the movie's soundtrack takes special significance in two more ways. First, Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama has revealed that he came up with the storyline as he was listening to "F". Secondly, songwriter Ryo acknowledged that the song is indeed about the villain Frieza and that it stemmed out of his reading the Dragon Ball manga.
"F" was released with "Tsume Tsume Tsume" as a double a-side maxi-single in July of 2008. It peaked at no.2 at the Oricon charts and obtained Gold status in Japan.
Meanwhile, as the title suggests, the new Dragon Ball movie chronicles the revival of Frieza and his revenge against the Saiyans with the aid of his servants Sorbet and Tagoma.
