Music Producer Sakuma Masahide Passes Away at 61

In sad news, music producer
Sakuma Masahide who has led Japan's music scene for over 30 years has passed away on January 15th at 61 years old.
Sakuma had been diagnosed with scirrhous stomach cancer back in April of 2013 and although he continued to work while receiving treatment his condition began to deteriorate. His funeral will be private with close relatives as he has stated in his will.
Sakuma's compilation album "
SAKUMA DROPS" will be released on March 5th, 2014 which includes over 30 songs of J-Pop masterpieces produced by
Masahide Sakuma such as "
Dreamin' (BOOWY)," "
HOWEVER (GLAY)," and "
Summer Game (Kyosuke Himuro)." This album also contains
Masahide Sakuma's new song "
Last Days," which was recorded with
TAKUYA, Gota Yashiki,
Erika Ikuta (Nogizaka46), and
Otoya Sakuma (a son of Masahide) which is available for
pre-order here.
