Anime Festival Asia (AFA) Indonesia
was held on September 6-8, 2013 at Jakarta Convention Center. Several popular names among anime and Jpop fans participated in this three-day event. Other attractions such as exhibition, movie screening, and cosplay were also available, making AFAID a complete package for Japanese pop culture fans which was not to be missed.
Visitors had been lining up since the morning. The exhibition wasn’t really packed with people on the first day; but on the second day, visitors started flooding the area. AFA Shop booth provided various merchandises such as t-shirts, CDs, lanyards, also photosets of cosplayer like Ying Tze and Angie.
There were many other booths providing various things like merchandises of Gundam, Kamen Rider series, Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan), and even Japanese fashion accessories, make up, and beauty care. Unfortunately, the Sword Art Online booth only operated on the last day of the exhibition because of several reasons.
This year’s AFAID also had Maid and Butler Café similar with those in Japan, where visitors were served by moe maids and handsome butlers. Also, on the second and third day, various movies were screened, including “Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part 1: The Beginning
”, “Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part 2: Eternal
”, “Detective Conan Private Eye in the Distant Sea
”, “Gundam Unicorn Episode 6: Two Worlds, Two Tomorrows
” and “Love Live! School Idol Project
The concert, one of the main highlights of this event, was divided into two-day shows. Angelina warmed up the audience before May’n
, Eir Aoi
and Aya Hirano
rocked the stage on the first day. While on the second day, DJ Kazu raised the hype before fripSide
stepped up and took over the stage. Surprisingly after that, Dempagumi.inc
, one of the idols from Akihabara, showed up on stage as a special present for the audience. And finally, Kalafina
wrapped up the star-studded concert with their amazing performance.
As successful as its previous event which attracted around 40.000 visitors, this year‘s AFAID, organized by Sozo, Zepp Live Entertainment, Marygops Studio, and Megindo Tunggal Sejahtera, attracted more than 57,000 visitors.
Hopefully, we’ll see more events like this to come in the future!
