It was announced earlier this week that actors Haruma Miura
and Shun Oguri
will lend their voices to "Space Pirate Captain Harlock"
CG Remake film.
Shun Oguri ("Crows Zero", "Rich Man, Poor Woman") already had experience with voice acting in highly underrated anime "Rainbow - Nisha Rokubo no Shichinin". This time he will portray Captain Harlock. On the other hand, it will be Haruma Miura's ("Bloody Monday", "Koizora") first voice acting role, where he will play an original character Yama, who tries to take over Captain Harlock's starship Arcadia in order to kill him.
The film is based on a science fiction manga by Leiji Matsumoto
which inspired an anime series that aired from 1978 to 1979 and other animated features in the early 80s. However, in the original manga, Captain Harlock rebels against Earth's incompetent government and fights for human rights with his crew aboard the space battleship Arcadia.
Other cast members include seiyuus Maaya Sakamoto, Toshiyuki Morikawa, Miyuki Sawashiro, Chikao Ohtsuka and actors Kiyoshi Kobayashi, Yu Aoi, Ayano Fukuda, Arata Furuta, Ayano Fukuda.
Toei Animation announced that the film will be released in Japan on September 7th 2013. Have a look at the promo teaser featuring both lead actors and trailer below.
