Jay Chou To Hold 4D Concerts As Part Of World Tour
Jay Chou will be embarking his "Magical Family Bonds" world tour starting on May 17th with a concert in Shanghai. The singer will be utilizing the latest technology to bring fans a 4D concert experience.

4D is a type of animated 3D experience that gives the impression of physical movement, a technology used in holograms. For Jay Chou's concert, the singer will be combining 3D screens along with mapping technology to create a unique 4D experience at the Mercedes-Benz Cultural Center in Shanghai.

Jay Chou has been secretly working on a 4D concert experience in 2011. Despite the high cost to produce such a technologically advanced and intricate experience, the singer wanted a truly magical experience to unfold in front of the audience. "The choreography must have a knock-out affect. I want the audience to feel like every time they blink their eyes, they're missing something," Jay Chou stated.

80 cameras were used to create the 3D animation for the concert. The opening video, which runs for 1 minute and 20 seconds, cost $8 million NTD ($270,000 USD), making this one of the singer's costliest concerts.

The May 17th & 18th concert dates were nearly completely sold out after ticket sales were made available. A 3rd concert date, May 19th, had to be added in order to keep up with the strong demand.
