Ayumi Hamasaki's latest album, "LOVE again", has topped Oricon's weekly charts, marking the singer's 20th #1 album on the Oricon chart.
"LOVE again", Hamasaki's 14th studio album, sold 53,000 copies in its first week of release, the weakest first week sales for a studio album of her career.
Despite relatively weak sales, "LOVE again" is still a landmark album for Hamasaki. With the new album, Hamasaki has set the record for fastest time to have 20 #1 albums, and is one #1 album away from tying Yumi Matsutoya for most #1 albums for a solo artists.
"I'm very happy so many people have supported this album. Thank you all very much. Setting this record was only possible thanks to my fans' support. Since this year marks my 15th anniversary, I want this year to be full of wonderful memories with everyone," she said after finding out her latest achievement.
"LOVE again" is the 4th of 5 monthly releases leading up to Hamasaki's 15th anniversary since debuting.
