Anime Festival Asia Indonesia 2012 Ended Memorable
The first Anime Festival Asia in Indonesia was held on 1st and 2nd September 2012 at Jakarta International Expo. It started with media previews of anisong artists and talents on Friday, 31 August 2012. The event would be akin to Japanese Akihabara district for its movie screenings, cosplay-related activities, and maid and butler café. Visitors could also enjoy the largest collection of anime merchandise from Akiba Town of some of Japanese more famous brands. Moe Moe Kyun Maid Cafe and Atelier Royale Butler Cafe served the memorable dining experience during AFA ID 2012.

AFA ID 2012 focused on popular contents and latest trends based on interests and preferences of the Indonesian audience. Indonesia is the second country to host AFA 2012 after successful AFA in Malaysia, in June 2012. AFA ID 2012 will lead up to the Anime Festival Asia 2012 in Singapore this November.

Started from early Saturday, 1st September, the crowd had already lined up in the ticket counters outside the venue of the festival. Booth like Good Smile Company, Danny Choo’s, Bushiroad were full. In Vanguard Card battle area was also very attractive for the audience.

Moe Moe Kyun Maid Cafe and Atelier Royale Butler Cafe were also crowded from first hours they opened their cafe. Pretty girls like Momo, Kiyomi, Mio, Tora, Yuna, and Ringo teamed up as maids in Moe Moe Kyun Maid Café. And cute boys like Takuya, Shin, Ren, Ryo, Haru, and Kenta, were the butlers in Atelier Royale Butler Café. Maids welcomed visitors, seated them in empty tables and took their orders. Visitors of Maid Café could order drawings on the top of their meals drew by the maids. While in Butler Café , visitors (which were mostly girls), could chat with butlers. Butler would sit down together in the same table and have a talk with visitors. Both in Maid café and Butler café, visitors could also take Polaroid photo together with the maid / butler.

At the hall next door, there was a talk show with guest artists of the festival including cosplayer ambassador Kaname, cosplayer Akatsuki Tsukasa, Indonesian mangaka Vivian Wijaya, and Danny Choo as host of AFA. Super Anisong artists appeared on stage to greet the audience before their night show.

Special movie screening “Eureka Seven AO” was also discussed by Danny Choo and Stereopony who sang the soundtrack of the anime. Stereoponys told that the background of the anime was Okinawa, which is their homeland, so it was emotionally related to the anime.

Trailer of new anime serie from Animax, “K” was also played, one of its producer shared a part of the plot of this anime, and then Kaname appeared disguised as one of the character in “K”.

On the first day, the final of ARCC (AFA Regional Cosplay Champhionship) Indonesia qualifiers battled for top 2 positions for day 2. The next day, the 2 winners of ARCC day 1 battled with CLAS:H (Cosplay Live Action Show Hybrid) winners who had won at Ennichisai, on June-July. The winner of ARCC x CLAS:H Cosplay Appearance will represent Indonesia to AFA in Singapore. Besides that, they will also won a trophy, 10 million Rupiah cash, and a trip to Japan. The judges chose Daikon Sky as the winner who will represent Indonesia to AFA Singapore this November.

Super Anisong Stage amused the audience with performance of 7!! (Seven Oops), Bless4, Ichiro Mizuki, and LiSA on the day 1, and angela, KOTOKO, Sea☆ A, and Stereopony on the second day of the festival. They performed anime songs to complete this Anime Festival.
