Ruki, born as Matsumoto Takanori (松本 孝則) on February 1st 1982 in Kanagawa, is the lead singer and lyricist of popular visual kei band, the GazettE.
Ruki has a herniated spinal disc and though it didn't bother him at a young age, it became very painful to the point that it had to be operated on during his early high school years.
The relationship between him and his parents are very tense. Because he can't "apologize" to them directly, he writes them letters.
Earlier in his musical career, he was the drummer in one of his previous bands.
The GazettE was formed by him, Reita, and Uruha. In 2002, Aoi and Yune joined and the band was named the GazettE.
In 2011 during the PS Carnival, Ruki attended (with Aoi) as a semi-solo artist with his new and temporary band, Lu/V.
A fact about Ruki is that he likes to keep things very clean and tidy. His living space is just as so and reportedly "Smells like incense". According to some of his bandmates, he can be "inconsistent" in many ways. The first impression he usually gives, though, is a very nice and kind one.
