Japanese band. Jesse, the vocalist from RIZE named the band. Def Tech has enjoyed amazing success despite being signed to an independent label, "Vice Versa Entertainment", a local Hawaiian production company consisting of numerous underground artists, and had the 3rd best selling album in 2005. Def Tech performed at Live8 in Tokyo in July 2005. In 2005, Def Tech rose to become one of the biggest acts in Japan. They are establishing a new genre called "Jawaiian reggae" (Japanese + Hawaiian + Reggae). They not only perform but do their songwriting, arrangement, and production by themselves. In January of 2006 the group was reported to be having trouble getting along and that they would break up. As posted on the DefTech webpage in September 2007, the rumours were true - and Def Tech dispersed, citing different opinions on music direction as the cause for the split.
