July 26th was AKB48's Team K captain Sayaka Akimoto's special birthday celebration performance at their theater. Reports surfaced that several Team K members pretended to have work elsewhere and skipped out on her celebration. One of these members include high profile Yuko Oshima who was rumored to have gone on a date with Eiji Wentz. Another member, Yui Yokoyama, went to a stone spa. Both girls seemed like they didn't want to support Akimoto's celebration.

Sayaka Akimoto turned 24 on that day. It was customary for AKB48's teams to host a special celebration performance for members with a birthday. But a few of the core members from Team K failed to show up including Tomomi Itano, Ayaka Umeda, Yuko Oshima, Minami Minegishi, and Yui Yokoyama. The spots for these girls were replaced by Research Students. Interestingly reports appeared that Oshima did not have any other filming or recording activities. A worker at a restaurant told the press that Oshima had a dinner with Wentz. It has been rumored for a long time that Oshima and Wentz were dating. There were some that had said Oshima's mother approved of Wentz and thinks he is a very nice guy. But then the very next day, the restaurant worker changed what she reported and said that Oshima went with two female friends to the restaurant and it was not Wentz. Some netizens believed that she spoke too much and was scolded by her boss. But without doubt, Oshima was definitely free that day.

On the other hand, Yui Yokoyama went to a stone spa with Shizuka Oya of Team A. On that night at around 6pm, both of the girls uploaded pictures of them at the stone spa on their Google+, but it was quickly taken down. When the news got out, many people were quick to defend Oshima and Yokoyama. We should sympathize for each member as they have a busy schedule and it is not easy to go on holiday or have some personal time off.

Allow me just to give a second opinion and give people the opportunity to see the otherside.
Just to clarify, it's very rare nowadays to have a theatre stage with all the main members. Birthdays stages are not an exception. You can see other past stages and see for yourself.
If someone is given a free time even having work to do it must be because she doesnt have another free time. In their case could mean full agenda for the next 3 months (Maeda Atsuko was rumored to have had only 2 days off over a year). And the stage job is what they have more flexibility. No need to think too much to see the result.
Besides all, it's just my opinion, but I dont see any logic in discussing who are friends with who.
To finish, any fan can see that Oshima doesnt hide what she's thinking. And strong as she is, she probably wouldnt care about this article because she is secure about her relation with Sayaka.

I think she couldn't show because she really busy with being the face of AKB48 after atsuko maeda goes later this year and it not like everyone show up at in team K was there.

I know if two of my friends went to a spa and posted shots instead of coming to my birthday I would probably be upset, im not a sayaka fan but thats not very nice at all if true -_-
Have you read the last sentence of this article and re-consider your thoughts? This year my brother chose not to celebrate my birthday and played his computer games all-day instead after a tough struggle with his studies daily from day to night for the past 2 months, and I completely understand that.
We all need personal time off, and I'm sure the members are more busy than my brother all-year, not to mention they have so many members that it's almost confirm that there's at least 1 member celebrating her birthday every week. For those who knows/close with other members of SKE/NMB/HKT, it easily makes even more birthdays to celebrate.
I can see where your coming from and your correct AKB members are very busy but sorry unless this article is totally untrue in which case I will gladly take my post back then otherwise my comment stands,
I also work most of the week but I still make time for my friends and family.
Ones birthday only comes once a year your brother's games can be played anytime ;P
all that said Yuko im sure is Extremely busy being the front girl I think im going to give her the benefit of the doubt this time (^^)

Work is completely nothing compared to struggling in studies -_- Most jobs don't make you sleepless and crack your brain hard 99.9% of the time, along with the endless worries of how well you'll perform.
You don't seem to understand that time is only a minor factor compared to stress level, which can affect one's mental state very negatively. My mum is busy with house chores 90% of the time when awake, but her stress level is literally ZERO.
An idol is one of the few careers that's very stressful, especially one that has millions of fans worldwide, among the few top females that has been most endorsed by other companies. Apart from that Yuko may not be that close to Sayaka and those who are away with whatever they are doing, you've not idea how long they've been waiting for it and anticipating it. There's lots of possibilities and I really can go on and on. The number of factors that can make one's birthday insignificant is endless.

You're right. I never thought about that. It's an important thing to remember. Within each team there's 16 members, so birthdays are extremely regular. It's hard to take a break when it's not someone's birthday.

That's kind of sad for Sayaka Akimoto... And Yukochan,, watch out!!! Dating is prohibited for idols. I do hope she won't get herself in trouble if it is true. I don't know. I don't think she would do something like that, right? I don't want Yuko shipped off to HKT too...
the chances of Yuko going to HKT is like, 0%. Unless she screws up really bad, which I doubt, because Yuko is pretty smart.
