Versailles' Kamijo has sent a message to his fans, explaining to them what kind of content they can share and translate freely, and asking them to stop sharing private and copywritten material.
The message came after the it was brought to Kamijo's attention that fans had been translating the band's interviews with various magazines and sharing them to the world. While he appreciates the thought, he points out that its not right for people to do that.
The singer also asked fans not to share exclusive fan club material to those who aren't in the fan club.

I’ve received lots of messages about my “Onegai (Please do me a
favor)” text. Many thanks.
Did I sound a bit too harsh?
No, I didn’t mean to be harsh at all.
But I’ve come to realize that my explanation was insufficient and that
I have to explain it fully for you to understand what I mean.
First of all, I always thank all of you and street teams in every
country who continuously support us by rendering our info and news
into your languages and by posting them on your websites and/or blogs.
That really helps spread my band and our info to the world, which is
nothing but wonderful! I really appreciate that a lot!

The main reason why I decided to post the “Onegai” text is that I got
a message saying, “I’m going to translate the column in ____ magazine,
put it on my website and spread it to the world.” It’s great that the
person wants to spread us to the world. But there’s a big problem. All
the interviews/texts/info appear in any magazine belong to its
publisher and they are called “copyrighted work.” If you translate any
copyrighted work without the publisher’s permission, it’s called a
“breach of copyright.” As you know, it’s against the law. I just
couldn’t let it pass because I knew one of our great fans was about to
do something illegal. Those publishers run our interviews and info in
their magazines just because they support us as much as all of you
fans out there do. We are all in the same family circle of Versailles
and we care them and you fans equally. So please ask the publisher for
permission first before you start working on the translation.
I’m writing what I wanted to say in my “Onegai” text here again to
make it clear:Please do not reprint, translate or post all the copyrighted work
belongs to our management, record company, and band such as music,
visuals, photographs, website contents, pictures in our CD artworks
and photo collection books.
What is free to reprint, translate and post is promotional photos/info
on our official website, texts in our blogs open to public in addition
to my tweets and photos on my twitter and facebook. You are absolutely
welcome to utilize them on your websites or blogs. Feel free to do
whatever you think is good for us.
Closed info and our website
contents exclusively for registered fan club members are not included.
And please remember, all the translated texts and info about us
rendered by our fans are personal interpretation of the translator.
Both translators and readers, please keep that in mind.
Regarding all the copyrighted work such as magazine contents, I leave
a decision up to the magazine publishers. So please contact them
first.
Regarding the texts and info for KAMIJO World members only, reprint
and translation are basically prohibited. If you are a KAMIJO World
member and if you want to translate for other members who don’t read
Japanese, please post the translated text on comment space. It’s a
good suggestion from some members and I think it works well in this
case. I hope to create our ideal world together with all of you by
exchanging good ideas and express things honestly. Thank you!

Guys... you do realize these illegal translations include song lyrics? He's also telling the fans NOT to translate songs. So, I wonder how many people still agree with him 100 percent.
Not really Dear. You see, in Japanese version of his post was said NOTHING about lyrics (as f.e. ISG translated, -I don't know from where they took it-; it's a bit unfair to Kamijo because he became the victim of fans' rage)
In second post (the one posted above^) he pointed out things clearly: "things for sale" (using big shorthand now), which are photos from booklets, photos used as background for lyrics, photos from photobooks, movies, PVs (only links to official ones are ok), music (Ripping CDs and DVDs isn't ok), interviews (yes, they belong to MAGAZINE), private blogs (not everyone can see&read them). I think, I didn't forget about anything. Hope, you'll understand now as I'm referring to Japanese version of his post.
Moreover, thinking logically, prohibition of translating the lyrics would be nonsense, because no one who buys their CDs (and lots of people do that) and doesn't speak Japanese would understand them - K's main goal is 'message', so...
I agree with him but its kind of a hassle when you want to know more about the band you love but its not in your language and no one can translate it for you cause its illegal. ._.

It's nice to know that Kamijo cares so much about his fans, and that he aperciated us and everything we do for Versailles.

I agree with him. It's good that he actually came out and said it. We can really tell that he cares for his fans
im a little sad, but completely agree.
for starters, if the magazine is being translated, no one would buy it......and fan club has a reason why you JOIN the fan club!
I'd just as concerned as him if someone does this and might get in trouble. He has a very good point and I definitely agree with his statement.
I agree with him. I know he really doesn't want his fans getting into trouble. So, I'm glad.
I support his opinion. That's one musician who truly appreciates his fans. He's not telling people not to translate at all, just not what to. Glad to be a VERSAILLES fan.
I think he's saying the right thing here. If you can read and translate magazines, good for you. But you shouldn't post them on the web for others. It's nice, of course, that people are so willing to translate works for others, but it's not necessarily the right thing to do.
I agree one-hundred percent with everything here. I know, I'll admit, where I've illegally downloaded a song, but then turned around a few weeks down the road and actually bought it on itunes or the physical copy. Publishers and musicians have rights too when it comes to privacy and piracy. I know what I do occasionally isn't the best thing to do in the long run (promoting those who spread around free downloads) but in the end the band IS getting my full support when I buy the music. And publishers write the printings as THEY see it fit, and when people try to take it and translate it, youre never going to get a 100% correct translation: it leaves things out like certain moods and ideas. If the publishers want to (or dont want to) enforce rules, it's up to them. Everyone has their reasons for things and even if we as fans don't think it's right, in the end its the best that we let the band keep the respect we have for them.

Honestly, I can understand the concern and see his point, but do I think it's fair? Well, not really.
First of all, the closed-off areas on the web: that's a different story, wanting to keep things in there private is understandable. Exclusive content is exclusive for a reason.
Interviews in magazines however? If I could walk up to any newsstand, pick the magazine off the shelf and read it without even having to buy it, because it's not encased and locked down... why not translate it? It's not like anyone's doing it for a profit or claiming they own the thing - what he said, exactly, it's to reach ppl who couldn't get the info otherwise. If someone's a fan (especially one who can read Japanese), they'll buy the original anyway. I'd respect publishers and copyright owners, if only they cared about fans. But taking weeks/months to translate stuff and make them available to a wider audience - IF they do it at all...doesn't exactly spell "care" for me. Might be just me, but I haven't really heard of any publisher going on a crusade against someone who translated one of their articles, anyway.
There are way too much interesting info in those interviews, sensible, meaningful stuff - unlike in most Western magazines. They should do their part to make sure it reaches fans outside Japan too, if they don't want ~civilians~ translating them, but haven't much seen that happening either so far.
