Metropolitan Police Juvenile Department arrested a 17 year-old boy for fraud in Taito, Tokyo last Apr 11th, Sanspo reported. The 17 year-old boy, who works as a part-time clerk, was charged with fraud after he admitted to charges of selling fake AKB48 handshake event coupons online.
The said suspect was arrested after he defrauded a 22 year-old company employee with JPY 25,000. A similar case happened November last year wherein 15 people where defrauded with a total of JPY 300,000.
AKB48 Handshake event coupons are a must-have for every AKB48 fan to get close to their Oshimen. Original AKB48 Handshake Event coupons can only be obtained by buying an original AKB48 CD or tickets can sometimes be bought at official AKB48 stores.

Fraud only works if you can maintain anonymity or shame or coerce the target into not going to the authorities. And its not like someone willing to put $300 on AKB handshake tickets knows what shame is. Although this is small fish fraud, it attracts a lot of heat. Not smart at all.

lmao this is is putting his brilliance toward the wrong thing. This is pretty funny only because im not one of those fans.. But, if i had to wait hours in line to realize it was a fraud, that kid would have gotten chopped in the neck.

I actually been to an AKB handshake. Some people were really looking forward to meeting their favorite girls like children with their parents or college students who waited for hrs in line on their weekend off. As a fan, I honestly can't stand this action but I could see how genius a money making move this is. Still...not nice to take advantage of fans.
