Super Junior Shares Emotional Stories From Their Debut

A world without Super Junior. Can you imagine it? According to Leeteuk, that's the way it was supposed to be.

The August 30th episode of SBS's "Strong Heart" featured members from Super Junior who all revealed interesting facts about their debut. Leeteuk revealed that Super Junior was originally supposed to last only 3 months as a project group. The group would serve as a launching pad for its members to do other things and the line up would constantly change. However, due to their success early on, SM Entertainment decided to keep the group the way it is.

Kyuhyun revealed his hardships when he first joined the group. After joining as the 13 member of the group 6 months after their debut, Kyuhyun felt like an outcast of the group. Kyuhyun had to sleep on the floor of the group's dorm, and was treated harshly by Leeteuk.

According to Ryewook, Leeteuk's harsh treatment even caused Kyuhyun to cry himself to sleep one night.

It wasn't until the group won their 1st award that Kyuhyun finally felt like part of the group. While the rest of his bandmates cried tears of joy over the win, Kyuhyun held back his tears, feeling like he didn't deserve to celebrate with the rest of the group. When Leeteuk saw him standing awkwardly, he came up to Kyuhyun and hugged him, telling him, "You worked hard too.". These words of encouragement allowed him to celebrate the win fully and feel like he was finally accepted into the group.

Leeteuk responded to Kyuhyun's revelation by saying, "It's because we have a strong foundation of faith and trust in each other that we are able to share stories like these. I think that s how comfortable we feel around each other now."

Heechul was also present for the show. This was his last public appearance before enlisting into the army. He and the other members present cried as they realized this would be the last they would see each other for next couple of years.
