Rain has been accused by National Assembly member Lee Suk Hyun of getting special treatment while in the army, presumably for being a celebrity.
According to the assemblyman, data from the Ministry of National Defense shows that Rain has taken 13 stand-down days, 5 special vacation days, 10 official overnight leaves and 34 unofficial overnight leaves, totaling 62 days. This is 22 more days than the average soldier enjoys off.
Officials revealed that 25 out of 34 of Rain's unofficial overnight leaves, usually permitted for members of the PR Support Team while they have duties far from base and staying overnight is more convenient, were spent in Seoul and the Gangnam district, calling to question why he would be permitted to spend the night in the area while on duty.
Lee Suk Hyun has been critical of the PR Support Team of South Korea's army, believing that it is unnecessary and irrelevant.
Duties of people in the PR Support Team include being ambassadors for the military, hosting awards ceremonies and performing for the troops.

I can't really takes sides on this b/c I don't know the details. I love me some Rain, but I did read somewhere that he was trying to avoid his required military service. He even considered moving to the US...sooo what I'm reading here doesn't sound too far fetched.

You don't hear of this behavior coming from other celebrities...
Hopefully he'll be able to rise to the challenge in the event that their age-old enemy, North Korea, declare all-out war on the neighbouring South.
I agree that with hearing what the records actually say, it looks bad. He needs to get used to being in that life style. For now he IS a soldier, not a superstar. Love him to death though. Hope he get's through this.

We all know Rain is loved and what not, but come on, why did he get that many leaves. If you are in the army, then you are in the army. And if this all is true then well Rain shouldn't be treated differently, because he is in the army and a civilian, like we all are.
Rain is awesome and all, but if I were serving my country alongside him, seeing him being treated that way when we're both doing the same work, of course I'd be disappointed. All I can say is that Rain should handle this situation accordingly...

I so am against this. If you are in the army, you're fighting for your country and if somebody doesn't want to be there, it's either go big or go home from there. I personally am angered, because I plan to fight for my country someday and no one should ever get special treatment especially if you're fighting for your country.
If this is true then I agree he shouldn't have been given special treatment for being a celebrity. Everyone should be treated the same and RAIN shouldn't be any different. Sorry but I'm siding with Mr. Lee on this one IF it's true.
