PSY's international sensation "Gangnam Style" has reached the #2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and is poised to be the first K-pop song to top the chart.
After coming in at #11 last week, the song has seen a large increase in sales and airplay in the United States. It has topped the Digital Songs chart with an increase of 60% in sales, rose from 43 to 9 on the On-Demand Songs chart (up 105% in requests), received 34 million plays on the radio (up 79%) and is the 19th most played song on the radio (up 95% in plays).
In terms of the overall score the Billboard Hot 100 chart is based on, "Gangnam Style" has seen an increase of 67% in its score. The number one song, Maroon 5's "One More Night", spends its 2nd week at #1 this week. Its scores only rose by 12%. With the score of the two songs being close, "Gangnam Style" has the potential to top the chart next week.
The song has already set many records as its popularity continues to grows. The song has topped the iTunes charts in over 30 countries across the world, and the song's music video is the most liked video on YouTube of all time.
