PSY's "Gangnam Style" has officially become the best selling single of the past week in the UK, prompting the rapper to make a promise to visit the country to celebrate.
The single has been charting on the UK singles chart for the past 6 weeks. Last week, it climbed up to the number 3 spot. After an increase of 73% in sales, the single managed to gallop its way to the top spot, giving the UK its first K-pop #1 hit.
"Thanks to all the UK fans out there for supporting me and 'Gangnam Style.' Guess what? I am coming!," PSY stated, hinting at an imminent visit to the country in celebration of his success.
The single's performance in the UK reflects the world's obsession with the song. The single has managed to top the iTunes singles charts in over 30 countries, including the United States where it has also topped the Billboard Digital Singles chart.
The song's immense popularity has made it a contender for the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Last week it placed #2 on the chart, but this upcoming week it is expected to top that chart as well.
