Phoenix Wright Movie Confirmed!

Director Takashi MIike (13 Assassins, Ichi the Killer) stirred up rumors of him directing a court drama. This happened a few weeks ago while promoting Hara-kiri: Death of a Samurai he talked about about his next film, "It is a very light comedy that I am filming now, a court drama, based on a video game, the Nintendo game DS."

Now it is confirmed to be true and he will be working on the live-action "Gyakuten Saiban" (Ace Attorney). Also confirmed is the cast. The main protagonists will be Narimiya Hiroki (Bloody Monday 1&2, Tokyo DOGS, Juui Dolittle) as Naruhodo Ryuichi and Kiritani Mirei (Hana Kimi, CHANCE!, Arakawa Under the Bridge) as Ayasato Mayoi. Playing the rival will be Saito Takumi (Space Battleship Yamamoto, 13 Assassins) as Mitsurugi Reiji.

For all of you Nintendo fans out there, you might be familiar with this adventure game series which puts you in charge of Ryuichi/Phoenix and solving mysteries as well as winning courtroom battles. The game was first released on Game Boy and later on into the Nintendo DS which was well received by game critics.

Toei will be in charge of this movie and if you ever played the game, you will know that the courtroom battles are very dramatic. Therefore, Toei will include a lot of visual effects in the courtroom. To accompany this, Kyoto studio created a big courtroom for filming. The movie will be set in a parallel world similar to Japan and it is said that a new prosecutor and defending lawyer system will be used.
