The latest Naruto film, Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie has now topped the one billion yen (approx. $13 million US) mark at the Japanese box office 17 days after opening. The film opened in theatres on July 28th.
Oricon is currently reporting that the new film will be surpassing the current highest-grossing Naruto film, Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow which was released in 2004. The film made 1.37 billion yen (approx. $17.4 million US).
Naruto's creator, Masashi Kishimoto thanked fans who watched the film by drawing a sketch with the message, "Thank you very much everyone for watching the film! And and please always support our protagonist Naruto!"
