Square Enix has announced at their Lightning Saga event that a new Final Fantasy XIII game will be released. The new game will be titled, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.
The game will represent Lightning's final battle and the concept will be based on the keywords "Lightning Returns" and "World-Driven". Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will be taking place in a world called Novus Partus, which is made of four islands connected by a monorail system.
The game will take place many years after the last game that featured Lightning's sister Serah and new companion Noel. In Lightning Returns, the world will end in 13 days and an in-game countdown clock will act as a reminder of this. Actions performed will use up time for this clock.
Square Enix added that Lightning Returns will feature a heavy focus on customization with several different costumes for Lightning, with the idea that players can have more direct control over our heroine. They also revealed concept art on the places Lightning can travel too as well as a monster.
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will be released in 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

A little in common I think it already.... Up to the FF 10 and FF 13 games, there are no parts or second general ajar games. Here I would be real time, if there was a remake of the old games.... Or a second part. I'd love to play FF FF 8 or 9... In a new video, for the PS3 or XBox360. Which does not mean that I have anything against FF13. I like Lightning!
ff xiii is for pc too ?
As of right now, there is no news on Versus but it hasn't been announced as scrapped (the website that reported this jumped the gun and Kotaku quickly went against it). I'm kind of wish they just went with this as the sole sequel to FF13 since I enjoyed it but didn't like FF13-2. Everyone wanted Lightning, not Serah.
The sole reason why a bunch of people didn't like FF13 was due to the linearity of the plot line BUT since the plot line is based on the idea of "on the run" you can't explore and free roam like say FF12.
Hopefully, this one will allow a more free play with the same amazing work that FF franchise usually releases (except for a few mistakes here and there)

Well I wish those of you luck that get this game. I wasn't pleased with the reviews that I heard about 13 and that sequel...so I just didn't buy them. Don't get me wrong...I am a Final Fantasy freak here, but if reviews are bad...and what I read on down the comments here is bad...then it may not be worth me saving up the money to purchase this game when it is released here in the USA.
I remember reading that FFXIII versus has been scraped, and the system will be used for another of Square Enix's games. It's not surprising because it's been in development hell for a long time, so don't look forward to it. =P As for FXIII sequel #2...I honestly thought it should have ended after the first one. Did not like the first sequel..this whole thing should have been done already.

Where is my Final Fantasy XIII Versus, stop with this Lightning things already. Or move on to Final Fantasy XV. Oh and I want the world map back like the ones in FF VII, VIII and IX
I understand how you aren't pleased with the 'stalling' of square enix but understand that they are to do everything at once so it'll take a fair while before they start doing it right like ff7.
Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2 were both not very good. Move on to another game already.

I can't wait! I hope they changed the format of the game a little. The series has stuck to the same battle format for far too long
I'll get this because I'd like to see what happens next after ff13-2... but I don't like the thought of having a time limit to complete the game... but that's just me lol
