In a recent interview with fashion magazine Numero Tokyo, Namie Amuro revealed why she works so hard and the reason behind why she rejects to attend NHK's year end Kohaku Uta Gassen.

Namie Amuro debuted 20 years ago and undoubtedly hailed as one of the J-pop queens in Japan. She worked hard throughout these 20 years and proved many people wrong when they criticized her age, "She's already 30+ years old, Namie Amuro will soon be gone." Namie responded in the interview, "When I was growing up, there were not many people who praised me. When people say I will soon be done in the entertainment industry, it spurred me on to work even harder. But when I do get praised, it makes me somehow feel lost."

A person who works in the music industry commented on Namie Amuro, "These words are not something the past Namie Amuro would say. If you look at it from another perspective, she has grown to become a person full of confidence in herself." Another person within the industry revealed that Namie works so hard was not because of criticism but the way her agency treated her which made her very angry.

Namie had attended NHK's Kohaku Uta Gassen many times in the past but in recent years, she had refused to attend. It was not because she does not get along with the broadcasting company, NHK, but because of her agency. She became one of the most popular singers in Japan and at the height of her popularity Namie requested to her agency to appear on Kohaku Uta Gassen. Her agency didn't help her arrange an appearance on the popular show and this made her very mad. Since then, she refused to appear on the year end show.

Leaving behind the image of an idol earlier on in her career, Namie Amuro worked very hard to achieve what she is today. Currently the relationship with her agency is not bad but not very good either. The decisions she make will not be influenced by anyone; in fact the rift between the agency and her is what motivated her to work hard and become the Namie Amuro today.

Age will not be an issue for her at this point.
She still looks like she's in her 20s.
I'm surprised, though Vision Factory has a lot of great artist.
But she's a wonderful person no matter what. She's a Queen. :3
Namie is absolutely courageous!
Wow,im glad you guys translate this since a lot of her news aren't EVER translated. Thank You!! I really admire her and I didn't knew they thought of her like that. She proved them wrong. I really wished she would perform more on tv but I guess she rather spend time with her son which I respect. She would never be done from the music industry she's just..Amazing!!! Although, she is thinking about retirement in a few years =( I just hope that before that I get to see her live. WORLD TOUR PLEASE!!! Aishiteru!!
I'm glad to, good to see the translations for those of us that speak little to none japanese. And sure... Namie's amazing, but she's lazy XD
Yay Namie! You are a queen and you will never be done in the industry no matter what the age. Fan since Genius 2000 and will be forever!!
she looks so beautiful!!!the cameras loves her and agencies in Japan are weird, I don't think this article made her looked bad at all. Agencies are suppose to support their artists and the fact that they tried to control things she wants to do as an artist is wrong. I'm glad she aint taking no BS.
I love Namie! JPOP Queen will never "be done", once queen you are forever referred to as a queen. even after death so WTF to all the people who say otherwise
this article just made her sound like someone who like to hold grudges for so long..
Go Namie!!! She's such a hardworker!
AMEN TO NAMIE! D=< She is indeed one of the best singers!
She is a hard worker I noticed it since I started listening to her!!! She is the Queen of jpop!
wow i guess its time for namie to get a new agency
it will be hard for her to change agencies, because once she did that, it will be over, good thing she's professional with her work, and didn't take it personally about what happened to her and her agency (she was referring to Vision Factory as Avex only release her CDs and stuffs
)
oh so i know why...
namie you are the QUEEN of jpop! don't ever stop! we love you!!
what the hell! this just makes me ANGRY. fudge you Avex! Namie is ageless! She isn't going ANYWHERE. she'll be 50 and still be strong, coming out with music that everyone loves! Age makes no difference! power to you amurochan!!
thats awesome. age doesnt matter for namie amuro!!!
she is hot! xD
Avex has only seemed like a difficult agency.. at least in my eyes. Kudos to the Queen Namie for sticking to her guns!!
