MYNAME Aims to be Like SMAP

South Korean group- MYNAME - recently held a press conference for their Japanese debut. The 5-member group talks about their admiration on two Johnny's group- SMAP and Arashi.

The Kpop group, who will be debuting in Japan with their single - "Message", said that they aim to be like SMAP. They also added that SMAP's charm and individuality are one of the reasons why they want to be like the famous Jpop group.

Aside from SMAP, the group's rapper- Se Yong also mentioned that Arashi is his favorite group. He said that just like MYNAME, Arashi is also a 5-member group and he really admires Jun Matsumoto.

MYNAME debuted in Korea last year with "Message", they hope that the Japanese would cheer them on and would love the message of the song.

"Message" will be released on July 25th.

Cool interesting fact learning about MYNAME!

I'll cheer them on! Aiming for SMAP is a hell of hard goal - but at least they are setting them high! And they admire Arashi and MatsuJun too? How sweet! I like when my fav Kpop artists like other artists I like as well!

Hopefully they will get to interact with them in the future like guessing on some of their shows!

This looks interesting. Gonna check them out. It's cool they admire SMAP and Arashi. Koreans groups liking Japanese groups? It happens. e.g. Seungri of BIGBANG spotted V6 at one of their concerts. They are fans of each other. lol

I love my name they are all really good singers and I am glad to here they look up to both SMAP and Arashi these are two amazing groups. To become legendary like them they will have to work hard, but I know they can do it, they are so talented.

Its also crazy to hear a Korean group praise and look up to a Japanese group it doesn't happen often. I hope they get to go on SMAP's show and Arashi's new show two it would be so cute!

Good luck to them then. Not just any Kpop group can make that wish considering how loved SMAP is. They may not make it as big as SMAP but at least they'll get somewhere.

so are they saying that just because they are entering the Japanese market? lol because that's what I have noticed every time. If they didn't plan on debuting in Japan, would they even say that?

Thats what I think about most idols in korea two. But since they were trainees they talked about Japan and Japanese groups. I really think this group means it, others not so much especially when other groups openly say they think they are better then Japanese groups.

it's nice that they admire Jgroups but i don't really like kgroups having their songs in Japanese.. now it's like they're going to copy SMAP and Arashi.
