On June 23rd, the 'MTV VMAJ 2012' will be broadcasted live from Makuhari Messe Hall in Chiba. The performing artists and nominees for all 16 categories have been revealed.
The MTV VMAJ's (MTV Video Music Awards Japan) is an international award show in which fans can vote for their favorite artist’s music videos. This year's ceremony will be hosted by electro poptrio Perfume and feature exciting live performances from EXILE, Kato Miliyah, Exile, J Soul Brothers, and K-pop groups 2NE1 and 2PM. Guest celebrities include AAA, Kaneko Nobuaki of RIZE, ROLA, SCANDAL, Anna Tsuchiya, w-inds and more.
Fans can vote via the 'Like' button on MTV JAPAN's official Facebook page. Fans can also vote at VMAJ.jp as well as view the nominated music videos.
Furthermore, on March 19th Perfume held a live Ustream broadcast to talk about this year's VMAJ's:
Nocchi said, "We were all so happy because we never thought we'd be MCing for the VMAJ's! At the most we thought maybe a music video." Kashiyuka commented, "I was able to watch the 2007 VMAJ's from in the venue. So many spectacular artists gathered on that stage and this year I'm excited to think that we will be standing on that same stage." A~chan said, "While it'll just be the same old Perfume occasionally slipping into their Hiroshima dialect, our relationship with the artists and viewers is important. We want to have fun!"
Perfume is is nominated for 'Best Dance Video' and 'Best Choreography'.

Although babypanda09 is right, I would still rather see less Western artist's win. We get enough mainstream "now" music shoved down our throats (American, here) so it'd be nice to see the Asian artist's/group's that have true talent be recognized. So many J-pop/rap/rock artists are underrated! You'd think they'd at least try to support more Japanese artists.
