Lee Hyori Opens Up About Going Through Therapy And Her Boyfriend

Lee Hyori recently appearance on the latest episode of SBS' talk show "Healing Camp". On the show, the singer opened up about her plagiarism scandal, how she met her boyfriend and her mother's reaction to them dating.

2 years ago, Lee Hyori released her 4th studio album "H-Logic". Soon after, it was found that 6 of the album's songs were plagiarized. The songs were given to her by a rookie song writer.

"I did not find out too much about the song writer and just took the songs. The six songs that were deemed to be plagiarized were not well known, nor did they have copyright restrictions. Even if we tried to find out about the songs, it would have been tough," she explained.

"The rookie song writer sent me 200 songs and all of them were plagiarized. I asked him why he plagiarized all these songs but all he could say to me was sorry. That song writer is currently in prison," she continued.

After the scandal, Hyori became depressed. She sat at home and drank away her sorrows. However, after being convinced by TV personality Kim Jae Dong to go get therapy, the singer was able to overcome her dark times.

The conversation become much more light-hearted when Hyori began sharing how she met her boyfriend Lee Sang Soon. The couple first began talking when Lee Sang Soon was seeking help in choosing a dog to adopt. His care for animals made Hyori think he was good guy, but romantic feelings had not formed yet.

When they sang a song to support and help abandoned animals, Hyori began to realize how much she liked hearing his voice. She also liked how he wasn't materialistic.

"He does not chase money, and what’s most important to him is his own happiness. He lives within his means, whether he has a lot or a little. He had a small rooftop home, and it was so well-decorated and charming. He had a lot of books, and a lot of flowers. I thought, this person prioritized happiness and fulfillment, more than money," she explained.

After they began dating, Lee Sang Soon was criticized for being much uglier than Hyori. Even her mother agreed with the media. "When my mom saw him for the first time, she shed tears because of his unattractive appearance," she revealed. However, all the negative comments were very upsetting to her because she really liked him.
