During a recent interview, Lee Hi expressed her disappointment that SuPearls has disbanded, leaving her exclusively as a solo artist.
SuPearls was a group that became popular after competing in the singing competition "K-pop Stars". Although they didn't win, YG Entertainment signed a contract with the group. After a formation change, Lee Hi was added to the group and had been training to debut with them.
"If four people work together, we could making up for each other's weaknesses. Areas I lack in could have been supplemented if we had good chemistry and teamwork. The four of us were making something together for the past 5-6 months. Now that its all over, I'm really disappointed," Lee Hii said.
Lee Hi may no longer have a group to fall back on, but her solo career has already taken off. Her debut single "1,2,3,4" topped the charts upon its release last October, and her new album, "First Love", has garnered lots of attention.
"First Love" is set to be released on March 21st. The first half of the album was digitally released as a mini album on March 7th.

Aaaaaaw I feel bad for her though. In another Interview( Or this might have been the same one) she discussed how she was lonely. Her being in a group might have cheered her up
Yea She MAY Be disappointed but She MIGHT Just be saying that i mean she's making sh*t loads of money and she is doing really well in the music so she doesnt have much to worry about i mean with a girl group (With most girl group) there is always that one girl that goes on and has more money then all the other girls in the group i mean i dont know if she really means it or not but.. I mean come on now would you REALLY REALLY Care if your ex groupies were poor and you were doing well? if so then give up your singing and give it to all of them if you care so much.. I MEAN THIS IS JUST ME.
Whatever the case may be, the other group members were obviously not up to par with Lee Hi, or so the agency seems to think.
You're seeing it out of a very cynical viewpoint. That of a company just wanting more and more money. Sure, she'll earn money eventually, but there is something called "breaking even", and I'm pretty sure she hasn't done anything to remotely do that.
If you want to get pissed at someone, get pissed at the agency and not her. She didn't decide anything and even if she wants to debut with that girl group, she wouldn't be able to do so anyway since they've decided against it.
And please. Instead of thinking of it like a PR stunt, think of it as having a conscience and actually offering some thoughts to her fellow ex-members. You would have been pissed off at her if she didn't offer any words on the group's split. So no matter what she does, you would still be angry at her due to some weird type of entitlement.
I'm not sure who her group was, but I'll be keeping track of her work from now on. I liked the two MV's that I watch. I just might have found a second K-pop artist that I like besides the artists in SNSD. Hope she impresses further. GOOD LUCK!!
a challenge for her... good luck
that's too bad, at least she still has her solo career though
I'm sure she's sooooooooooooo disappointed now that she's making tons of money all for herself
Money doesn't equal happiness -- and that besides, being with other people for half a year usually means friendships are created and it sounds like she's disappointed to have to lose working with them. Don't be so cynical.
So she's supposed to apologize for being talented?
It's a common fact that there is a lot of girl groups in Korea, YG made a business decision to scrap the other girls in favor for a single artist that has already debuted - and has garnered some attention.
It's sad that the group will never debut and the other girls have been scrapped, but it's not Lee Hi's fault for being talented. Nor is it her fault the company made a logical business decision.
I'm surprised you find it hard to believe she feels bad for the rest of her friends in the group. It's not like it's easier being a solo artist, you have no one to rely on or to share your worries, thoughts etc.
So yes, she might make a "ton" of money, although I highly doubt it since the money garnered from the first few singles and albums will go directly to the company to pay back for the clothes, training, housing and food she used up during the training period.
Perhaps looking up the phrase, "breaking even in kpop", would be a good idea?
I was looking forward to they debut too
