Jenny Hyun, a K-pop songwriter, sparked controversy when she went on a racist rant against black people on her twitter account.
On February 16th, the songwriter shocked followers with a long series of racists tweets. The tweets were in response to a tweet from Floyd Mayweather who tweeted the following message about Asian NBA star Jeremy Lin: "Jeremy Lin is a good player but all the hype is because he's Asian. Black players do what he does every night and don't get the same praise."
Hyun responded to Mayweather's tweet by comparing black people to "sub-human, ungrateful apes", calling for the eradication of the black race and claiming the world would be a better place without them.
Below are the tweets from Hyun's twitter account:
Hyun locked her twitter account after the controversy grew and issued an official apology on her blog. However, the blog entry seemed insincere. The songwriter stated that she "regrets nothing" in regard to her controversial tweets.

I find this so funny, I find this more funny than rude- she's making herself look like a total idiot.
i love how you get get somewhere in life and be dumb like this
She's just an idiot. She should atleast have enough brains to know she's a public figure and that she's gonna get eaten alive for whatever dumb thing she says!!
And what makes any race better than any other?? Every single race has done something in the past that has been increadably bad. As a hispanic AND american I feel offended actually no, as a HUMAN BEING i feel offended by what she said.
This monster looks at a child thinking it's "sub-human" just because the child is black then? If there is reincarnation, this woman will be black for like 10 lives from now on to learn a lesson...
ok guys. the hype IS because J Lin is Asian... yes it was a great game and I'm proud of him, but black basketball players do that shttt often as well. and if you didn't know that then you obviously don't watch basketball.
the racist part of her tweets...yeah I'm over it, being black and gay I get double the hatred from stupid c***s like her, I'm used to it and it really doesn't matter. I mean, she just shot her own career in the face. what I don't understand is how she could have been stupid enough to tweet something like that.
I'm know exactly how you feel. I'm black and gay also. I've heard a lot worse than this.
Which is sad.
shes a BITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she needs too watch what she says because theirs black people everywhere if she learned history she wouldn't never said that i know that theirs racist people everywhere but shes a public figure and most of the music out there black people invented the greats where AFRICAN AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
there's a bit of racism even in a human being who claims he or she is not racist. Just saying this from experiences. And those people saying that we should accept it since racism does exists, well, the fact that she's a PUBLIC FIGURE.. it will reflect badly on her, where she come from, and all that. You wouldn't like it if people start going around saying things like, all ____are ____ because of the racist remarks someone of your race or from ur country made :/
I dont even know where to begin with this...
As a black person...I don't really have anything to say except I hate being compared to all the African Americans that are giving us a bad name, but I'm not going to be one that retaliates. The best thing that African Americans, or "blacks" could do is to try and get a better name for ourselves and prove to other people that all of us are not worthless and whatever else is being said about us.
Ohhhh o.o Is that so
Apparently she was just admitted into a hospital for mental illness...
I'm not too sure about all this.
Oh. Miss Hyun. Overly passionate indeed. It seems she scrapped for every hurtful thing she could say just to feel better. I feel sorry for her.
It a way I agree with Mayweather that the hype is "mostly" because Jeremy Lin is Asian. America was the same way with Yao Ming. But I think it's a good thing that Lin is getting so much attention. He's a good player and that's that.
This can be related to how some Jpop fans are livid at the fact that Kpop is taking off so fast. When there is change, some people just get uncomfortable.
As far calling black people, like myself, apes and whatnot,it's alright with me. It isn't the first time I've been labelled as such and possibly won't be the last. I don't really care.
I don't care, either, and I'm white-hispanic. xD
And don't people know that racism is everywhere? It sucks, yeah, but it'll take a while for it to all disappear.
this is quite sad in my opinion. Mr. Mayweather shouldn't have said that, he wants to be respected just as much as teh next person and his comment is racist towards Mr. Lin.
And This lady takes it just too far. she should have stayed classy and not go mental...
Well, this is the most stupid thing I've ever read!! Although, even if she's an ignorant racist, it doesn't change her skills at writing music.
Wow. Maybe I'm the really odd one here....
This seems to have come from nowhere, and it floored me. I don't keep up with sports at all, but I do recognize Mr Lin when I see him. I recognized Michael Jordan, too....because he's a basketball player...not because one is Asia and one is black. Talent knows no color or race boundaries.
See, most of my friends are black, and in my life, I have had great Asian friends, which I would still have if any of them lived close to me. Unfortunately for me, they don't and I miss them terribly. Thanks to them, I came to understand, love and respect the Asian culture...but we became friends and somehow, we never saw race or color when we became friends.
Now here's the real kicker for this one: I'm a white American female from the southern US. You know...WE'RE supposed to be really racist and all that, but I have always had the philosophy of : You didn't do anything to me or my family, so why should I hate you?
So, having said that....am I the strange one here? I will defend anyone who is harrassed, regardless of race and/or color of their skin.
To the sportscaster who made the original "slur" against Mr Lin, I would say PUT YOUR BRAIN IN GEAR BEFORE TURNING ON YOUR MOUTH. To Ms Hyun....it's a shame you had to go this route. I can't help but think your fans are now wondering about your whole mental and emotional outlook towards them as well. I know if I were a fan before this, I probably would NOT be one now.
Racism is a disease and anyone who spreads it is sick.
-just claps- As a half Black, half Korean girl from the south, I find that kind of mental attitude is sickening so thank you for being the better person and defending people for WHO they are, not WHAT they are.
I'm from the south, too(white-hispanic), and I'm cool with anyone unless they do something to me, I won't be racist, but I will be violent and kick their arses. xD
Racism is one of the ugliest things in the world. Mayweather is wrong for his tweets, but what Ms. Hyun said went over the boundaries of decency. Does she realize the struggle that African-Americans had to even reach this point? We were brought here against our will as SLAVES, as something less than human because our cultures were not as advanced as the ones in Europe. We were bred and treated as animals for centuries. Even after emancipation, laws were passed to keep us as less than full humans. Are there aspects of black culture that disgust me as a person of color? Yes. Do I see positive signs that we are advancing? Yes.
Koreans should know something about being treated as less than human. It has happened to them in THEIR own country by different conquerors. Does Ms. Hyun know nothing of her own people's history? It's tragic that such ugly things should come from such a pretty woman.
