After preparing for the release of "Dancing Queen" in 2008 and having the single scrapped, Girls' Generation revealed that they were heartbroken.
"Dancing Queen", which was released as a preview single for the album "I Got a Boy" on December 21st, was originally supposed to be released in 2008 as the lead single off their first mini album, but due to Duffy's success with the song "Mercy", was cancelled instead.
"When we first heard the song and video was being cancelled, it was a difficult time for us. We shed many tears," the girls stated.
Instead of releasing "Dancing Queen", the group came out with "Gee" instead, becoming a sensation overnight as listeners fell in love with the cute song of love.
"It was a difficult time, but with the success of 'Gee', it made all other hardships worthwhile," they said.
"I Got a Boy" was released today, exciting fans with the group's new look and attitude.

They would never have gotten as famous as they are with Dancing Queen. Gee was obviously the better choice. I honestly don't like Dancing Queen.
If they released Dancing Queen first, I dont think I would have given them a chance past it. Gee is just too cute.
