NMB48, the youngest sub-unit of AKB48, have managed to rank first in Oricon music first week sales for three consecutive times since their record debut. However, NMB48's quest for four consecutive number 1 single might be put on hold with Johnny's Entertainment Arashi announcing the release of their "Face Down" single on May 9th.
The girls of NMB48 have topped Oricon weekly ranking for their past three singles- "Zetsumetsu Kurokami Shōjo", "Oh My God!", and Junjou U-19". Those singles sold more than 200,000 for the first week. But the girls will soon faced their biggest hurdle with popular boy group- Arashi. Arashi's "Wild at Heart" managed to snag the top spot with more than 550,000 sales for their first week.
However, rumors have surfaced that NMB48's 4th single "Nagiichi" will contain ballots for the upcoming Senbatsu election on June 6th. If it were true, then this battle for the top spot might be not one sided at all.
NMB48's "Nagiichi" and Arashi's "Face Down" will both be released on May 9th.

Cause there's clearly not enough love here for my NMBabies...I'm here to support them all the way!! and no, there's no election slip but I do expect NMB to give arashi a good fight for no. 1 at least. I mean with the wota fanbase, you never know, so JE better not underestimate NMB. They are clearly not as established as akb...like duh, they only were formed 2nd half of 2010 and debuted their 1st single around july last year. The chances may be low, but nmb will always remain winners in my eyes no matter the outcome

BTW~ i wouldn't call NMB a SUB UNIT. a Sub unit is like DiVA, NO3B, Not Yet. NMB is a SISTER GROUP....<__<
Hmmm...since NMB is going to be accept into the AKB senbatsu, chances are their single might have the election slip and NMB is strongly supported by their Osaka fanbase simply because they're one of the few idol that come from Osaka, even so Arashi probably going to sell more. But it's not like it matter for the NMB, it's Arashi who have to worry about their image if they lose to a 48 sister group lol.

Arashi seem like the only group now who have a chance against the 48 groups... well, not AKB with ther million sellers, but they're still tough competition for the sister groups and units. However, if the rumours about the senbatsu election tickets are true, then AkiP is a very smart guy, and Arashi stand no chance.
They are all very good.
