AKB48's new album "1830m" has sold 871,000 copies in its first week, having the best debut sales figures of any album in 3 years and 8 months.
The last album to sell over 800,000 copies in its first week was EXILE's compilation album "EXILE BALLAD BEST" when it was released on December 3rd, 2008. The album sold 944,000 copies its first week and went on to sell 1,850,000 in total.
AKB48 is the 2nd girl group to sell over 800,000 copies of an original album in its first week. SPEED became the first with their album "RISE" which was released 14 years and 4 months ago.
"1830m" is the 3rd album from AKB48 to top the Oricon chart. It is their best first week sales for an album.

AKB Power!!!! These girls never cease to amaze me...not a fan-fan of em but they sure got dedicated fans to shell out for em all the time...the songs must be good though....although have to admit that Heavy rotation is one heck of a catchy song...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Momusu's 3rd album "3rd: Love Paradise" sold over 800,000 copies too lol.
