AKB48's second original studio album, 1830m shipped over 1.5 million copies. The first day sales for the album came out from Oricon with 625,401 copies sold.
AKB48 had already broken many records on the Oricon with their singles. Their fourth album 1830m shipped over 1.5 million copies compared to their second album Kamikyokutachi released in 2010 which only shipped 350,000 copies. Their newest album shipped copies nearly 5 times the amount of their second album within 2 years.
The album was released on August 15 and sold 625,401 copies on the first day. The number nearly doubled the amount from their first original album Koko ni Ita Koto which sold 321,108 on it's first day.
1830m comes in two version. A 2CD+DVD with a 48 page photobook and a ticket to vote for 3 songs to be made into a music video. The other version is a theater version with only 2CD and a ticket to a handshake event.

This album's supposed to be a pretty big one for the group, since they're finally going to fulfill their dream of performing for Tokyo Dome in a few months, and that's what the album was named after. So I'm glad it sold really well
So far my favorite song is Takahashi and Maeda's duet. The lyrics are amazing and considering the realness behind these two's friendship, I'm sure it touched a lot of others as well.
I haven't had a chance to listen to the rest yet, but hopefully I get to order my copy soon!!

There's the tokyo dome concert at week 2, which means week 2 sales should be great too... If week 1 they made it to 1mil or around 900k, then along with week 2 and remaining weeks, they should be able to outsell Mr. Children quite easily.
Well I cant really say that it was a big surprise reading this! still it shows how much AKB48 has spread their wings during this time!

Even if they sell 80% of the shipping record, they can reach 1 million for this album. I doubt they can beat Mr Children but being 2nd/3rd to them is already good enough.
Anyway compare to that crap Koko ni Ita, this album is a lot better and it have nice balance of songs for casual listeners and already AKB fans. I really like Hate, the lyric to Atsumina's duet is just so amazing, and First Rabbit music box intro is really pretty too.
Hoping some cool AKB songs get made into PV like Itoshisa no Accel. I want a PV of Takamina swinging sword around lol. Bird, Mushi no Ballad, Pioneer would be good too. Pioneer can show old footages of AKB back when they only has 8 people in the theater audience.
Koko ni Ita Koto was indeed very lame.
it had some OK song in it
Despite that Koko ni Ita Koto still sells very consistently... charting for 62 weeks and still on-going. Hardcore fans certainly ain't one who buy so much later after it released... meaning the album attracted lots of casual fans instead.
