Added by: xaosmx | Date: 03 July, 2009 (1 day ago) | Views: 6,934 | Source: mingpao
In the Japanese drama 'Nodame Cantabile', Tamaki Hiroshi plays the role of the pure and talented Chiaki Shinichi. In the adaptation of Tezuka Osamu's manga 'MW', Tamaki will break away from his previous images. Not only is he playing the role of a villain, there will also be a scene where he emerges naked from a shower. In order to maintain his cool image, he willingly went on a diet, slimming down to only 4% fat on his body frame. It's no wonder he looked like he's lost a lot of weight.
While speaking of Tamaki, the topic naturally steers towards his girlfriend, Yoshitaka Yuriko, who he co-starred with in the drama 'Love Shuffle'. Tamaki admitted to the relationship a few days ago. Yoshitaka's popularity seems to have sky-rocketed lately. Based on Oricon's 2009 Fresh Stars Poll, which ranked celebrities who have left strong impressions this year, Yoshitaka placed number one, beating out 'Oppai Valley' actress Ayase Haruka. The first place in the mens category went to 'Mr.Brain' actor Mizushima Hiro. This proves that Mizushima's popularity hasn't gone down even after his marriage to Ayaka. Sato Takeru, who had a guest appearance in the drama placed number 3 on the chart.

| Eason Chan, Jay Chou Win Mandarin Pop Music Awards |
Added by: xaosmx | Date: 02 July, 2009 (2 days ago) | Views: 9,802 | Source: channelnewsasia
Chan picked up the most coveted Best Album of the Year accolade for "Don't Want to Let Go," although he missed out on the top singer prize to the absent Chou, who took three awards.
"I am especially happy to receive the award from" fellow Hong Konger Jacky Cheung, an emotional Chan told the crowd.
"I want to thank the judges ... I love you. I love Taiwan," he said as cheering fans chanted his name.
Chou, who led the race with eight nominations, saw off Chan, heartthrob singer/actor Leehom Wang and Hong Kong's Khalil Fong to take the Best Mandarin Male Singer title.
He also took Best Song of the Year for the heart-warming "Fragrant Rice" and Best Music Video for the dazzling "Mr. Magic" he directed and performed from the top-selling album "Capricorn."
Versatile Taiwan singer Sandee Chan was the night's dark horse when she was crowned Best Mandarin Female Singer for "If One Thing Is Important" which she also produced.
"I am very happy to receive this award. I am not naturally great at singing but I spend a lot of time to do better," she said.
Chan beat last year's winner Tanya Chua of Singapore, five-time nominee Jasmine Leong of Malaysia and Taiwanese veteran singer Tsai Chin.
Hong Kong's "God of Songs" Jacky Cheung and Taiwanese-language songstress Jody Chiang won the audience vote on the most popular songs in Taiwan in the past two decades.
However, this year's ceremony struggled to attract much star power, with the absence of Jay Chou, Leehom Wang or other big names such as pop diva A-Mei .
Performers from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore competed in more than 20 categories at the 20th Golden Melody Awards. |

According to Nielsen BookScan's list of the bestselling graphic novels in American bookstores for this month, Tite Kubo's Bleach manga volume 27 has ended Watchmen's 11-month run at #1. Kubo's manga volume is the first book, besides Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' acclaimed one-volume graphic novel, to top the monthly chart since June of 2008. In fact, manga occupies all but three of the top 20 slots in the chart. Below Watchmen at #2, Akihisa Ikeda's Rosario + Vampire volume 7, and Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto volumes 43 and 44 fill out the top 5. Five more Naruto books — volumes 38–42 — rank in the top 20.
