In July 2000, when the local pop music scene was flooding with female talents, a male duo made their debut with a song entitled “Voice Mail.” As students of top universities in Korea, each of the members of UN(Untied N-Generation) had two different images. Kim Jeong-hoon displayed a soft image while Choi Jeong-won showed a strong look. Before appearing on stage as a member of the male duo, Choi Jeong-won performed as the vocalist of a 5-member dance group named “Bronze.” Kim Jeong-hoon, on the other hand, was picked by Cheonil Records through an open audition they held to search for new talents. In March 1999, the two men met each other and decided to form a duo under the name of “UN.” They released their debut album in July 2000, with the title song “Voice Mail.” The British pop style dance number was loved by many people for the sophisticated R&B style beats. However, the song that made UN gain great popularity was “For a Lifetime.” In the second album “Traveling You,” the male duo was successful with two songs, “Waves” and “Gift.” The former was a dance number with a bright and delightful melody and the latter was a ballad in which the calm tones of the two singers harmonized well. The male duo, however, pursued independent careers as singers as well as actors. While having a hiatus for the duo performance, Kim Jeong-hoon appeared in television dramas and movies to develop a steady career as an actor. Choi Jeong-won, too, played in television series and various shows developing his career as an entertainer. Even though they pursued different ways in the showbiz world, the male duo is continuing their teamwork as UN. The male duo steadily released albums that count up to their 5th, so far.
