    THE RICECOOKERS is a Japanese rock band formed in 2004 in Boston by Tomomi Hiroishi(Vocalist) and Kota Fujii (Lead Guitar), and later joined by Daisuke Wakabayashi (Bass) and Sohei Oyama (Drums).
    In 2007, they entered the worldwide music contest, EMERGENZA, and finished as semifinalist for the Massachusetts State Finals, drawing media attention as the first Japanese band to become a finalist. In January 2010, THE RICECOOKERS made their debut in Japan with their EP "Four of Our Songs...

    THE RICECOOKERS is a Japanese rock band formed in 2004 in Boston by Tomomi Hiroishi(Vocalist) and Kota Fujii (Lead Guitar), and later joined by Daisuke Wakabayashi (Bass) and Sohei Oyama (Drums).
    In 2007, they entered the worldwide music contest, EMERGENZA, and finished as semifinalist for the Massachusetts State Finals, drawing media attention as the first Japanese band to become a finalist. In January 2010, THE RICECOOKERS made their debut in Japan with their EP "Four of Our Songs"; produced by Shunji Okada Zazou Productions, Inc. and released by Bowinman Music Group. Following a successful 2 week tour in Tokyo, THE RICEOOKERS moved to New York City. In May 2010, their single
    "I" was featured in a Japanese play, "2LDK" directed by the acclaimed director Yukihiko Tstsumi with raved reviews. Soon after, the same song was featured on a Fuji TV documentary featuring the actress from the play. In June 1010, they were picked as one of the 10 performers, along with the legendary Sadao Watanabe, to represent Japanese culture at Japan Day at Central Park, which draws an estimated 45,000 visitors. THE RICECOOKERS will represent the "Tokyo Now" with songs from their EP. Currently, they are preparing for their next recording while they regularly perform in NYC at venues such as Arlene's Grocery, The Knitting Factory, R Bar, Ace of Clubs, Don Hill's, Lions Den, Drom, Bowery Electric, and Santos Party House.
    In 2010 their song Nami no Yukusaki was the theme song for the drama Keizoku 2: SPEC. · close
