Band Sel'm is a young Visual Kei band from Tokio. The members all have some experience in the music scene, either from previous bands or working as staff for older bands.

Vocalist Tora has a dreamy voice, one that seems to float over the aggression expressed in many of their songs. Their music is a bit harder than most visual kei bands and even though they're quite new, they've already released several singles. It's going to be exciting to see what this band can do in the future and they are a must listen.

Sel'm was created in autumn 2004. The till now unaltered allocation constisted of Tora, the first vocalist of the band Girugämesh but at this time he still called Cyrien, Guitarist Tsubaki, Bassist Takuma and drumer MANJ' (speak: Manji).

After various lives, in April 2005, the band distributed their first release, -DEVASTATION-, which was limited to only 444 copies. More concerts followed as well as the CD Choushou no Tsuki, which featured only one track on it, just as their previous release had.

The next year, Sel'm played at numerous events and live houses, during which they started to slowly attract fans and gather more attention. In January 2006 they released their first single, Anthology. A few months later, the band surprisingly cancelled two live shows; it was announced later on their official website that Manji had fallen very ill, requiring hospitalization. Luckily, the treatment he underwent was successful and he was back with the band in April.

They continued playing shows with other bands and on June 14th they released their long awaited first mini-album, resistance. Their first oneman, resisted VIII places~Madness of the birth, then followed at the Meguro Rock May kan on the sixteenth of September and quickly sold out. Near the end of the year, they released the one-track single N∞℃, which was a great way to wrap up the successes of 2006.

2007 started with another oneman, this one called Psychedelic Roulette. They then toured throughout March and on the fourth of April, they released their third single called Roido.

One might think that an indie band would slow down a little, but not Sel'm. They have quite a tour planned for November, including their third oneman which will be held on the seventeenth of that month. It also looks like we can all look forward to their first full length album which will be released in 2008. Its title will be brilliant force and will include a total of 13 tracks. · close
