SEXY-SYNTHESIZER is founded in 2006 by Takeshi Nagai.
Their sound is characterized by 1980's arcade sound effects and familiar electronic sounds,
with vocoder vocals singing over all that. Simply categorizing the group with terms like "chiptune" and
"8bit sound" are not enough to explain their distinctive rock/punk-based electro groove.

After their music created a buzz on Myspace, SEXY-SYNTHESIZER released their independent album, "ROCK,"
in selected stores and the internet (limited release / sold out).
Soonafter, their remix of "My Neighbor Totoro" was used in Studio Ghibli's anime cover compilation CD,
"Kira Kira Ghibli" (released by Happinet), which caught the attention of many.

In 2008, an updated version of their independent release, "ROCK," was created with new songs and new packaging.
This was released all over Japan as "ROCK - SPECIAL EDITION," on their independent label.
Although they were virtually unknown, this album reached number 10 in Tower Records' Indies Chart.

"V.A. SEXY-SYNTHESIZER PRESENTS FUNKY - BIT," a cover album of music from overseas, was released in September, 2008.
Fully self-produced and arranged, famous music from overseas were recreated as funky, electronic, danceable covers.
"Sing Along with HAPPY-SYNTHESIZER," a cover album of standard children's music, was released in September, 2009,
under a different name, "HAPPY-SYNTHESIZER." Every song was self-produced and -arranged.

Since 2008, the band has played at the legendary annual Nintendo fans' event, "Fami Mode," held in Kichijoji, Tokyo,
3 years in a row. Aside from working on their own productions, SEXY-SYNTHESIZER collaborates with various hip hop,
R&B, and electro artists, as well as producing, track-making, and remixing for these artists.
Playing live and DJing as well, the group continues to pursue their activities in various fields and genres. · close
